में खेलेगा

 में खेलेगा

Imagine you are 16 and in Pakistan playing your debut series. It’s the fourth match and India needs to save the series. Imagine Imran, Akram and Younis coming at you on a green turning pitch.

Now imagine it is 38 for 4 and you have come to bat. Wakar let’s in a bouncer that breaks your nose splattering blood on the pitch.

The paramedics are in, what will you say to them ?

Sachin Tendulkar said "में खेलेगा". That day he sowed the seed of who he would become. If he had left the pitch there would have been no little master.

Vinod Kambli burst in as a prodigal talent but soon bowlers figured out his weakness against short pitched deliveries. Achrekar their common coach would say he was more talented. He simply did not have the mental muscle of working his shortcomings at the nets and his career sank.

You will have bad patches but like Virat Kohli did yesterday, you have to let your bat do the talking. You have to believe in yourself precisely when no one else does.

As Mike Tyson said, “we all have a plan, until we are punched in the face”.

Resiliency and tenacity. An attitude that comes with your thoughts. Thoughts becomes desires and drive action. Language manifests into reality. We must be careful of language we use even in our head.

We are the conversations that happen between our ears. We have the same equipment with more or less the same capacity. What differentiates humans is this walnut shaped object. The brain. The seat of desires, emotions and thoughts.

The quality of our life is determined by the quality of our thoughts. Yet, most of us are victims of our thoughts and the emotions they create. To master one's thoughts is a course no one teaches and yet it is at the core.

Wether we are a professional or an entrepreneur, our success and happiness is determined by the quality of our thoughts.

If our attitude determines our altitude then we must realize that the words genius, visionary etc is assigned to a successful outcome but what makes some of us more successful than others is they know what they want, they are happy in the pursuit of it, they create positivity in the darkest environment and when they do get a bloody nose they say "में खेलेगा".

Sometimes you just need to spend time on the pitch. You may take a few body blows but eventually you will read the bounce the swing and the pace.

Focusing on the controllables with a serene mind. The outcome is never in our hands but through attitude, clarity and discipline of execution we increase the probability of success.

To win in life and be happy we need master our mind for the mind is a great servant but a terrible master. You can’t win outside without first winning within.

When you get a bloodied nose, you have two choices, wallow in self pity, get angry, depressed and defeated or just wipe the blood off your face and say "में खेलेगा".

Wish you a very happy Diwali. May each one of us light a lamp that brightens the path for others.

: में खेलेगा
